STRIKING A BALANCE

Rethinking material pursuits for a more mindful life – also in business

Have you ever wondered why people who have less - in material terms - express “more” joy? This phenomenon is especially common in countries like India. In Western societies, we tend to measure success by status or things, all external expressions, rather than inner peace or joy. Money is definitely a good way to calm your mind in terms of social security but money doesn’t give you wealth or joy. I think wealth is a unity of wisdom and health - the wise, mindful version of health.

When film becomes attention-driven content

In the realm of art, design, and film, I observe a shift. Film, once a canvas for artistic expression, is increasingly becoming a commodity. Streaming platforms produce high-budget films not as an exploration of artistry but as products to attract audiences, driven by the relentless pursuit of attention. I believe these trends are not here to last; short-form content, ads, constant media noise - it will remain, but it will lose grip on people who are truly aware and pursue value rather than consumption only.

My own experience

Having worked, especially as an editor during my career, on countless projects mostly within the automotive or motorsports realm, creating dynamic, in-your-face heroic edits - I recall that it was mostly not the projects themselves that I am proud of but people, the collaboration, the crafting in a team.

What is here to stay then in the long run?

Value Content. Human value, not profit-driven. We have those plenty already, but in all that noise, it can be a challenge to be aware of it.

Why share this?

In all this noise of our society, especially in the industrialized world, I prefer to seek the quietness, the inner silence, the Now. "But Alex, you are a Content Creator, so you need adapt to the trends. If it's a video, make it dynamic, make it fancy, include titles, motion graphics, attract the short attention of your audience” Do I? "Speak your voice." I agree regarding speaking my voice.

And here I would like to quote Rick Rubin:

“Creating what you think others want to see is not art it’s commerce.”

“The artist’s goal is to keep themselves pure and unattached.”

Who is my audience?

Those who value a balanced, purpose-driven, and mindful life. Individuals and companies aligning with these values, seeking to inspire positive change, resonate with my creative expressions. Through these LinkedIn posts, I share my personal journey, reflecting my values and inviting collaborations that align with my voice and passion. It's an ongoing exploration of self-discovery expressed through my filmmaker lens.
